Emma Gilmour and Amanda Jones
Emma and Amanda often collaborate on projects and like to incorporate a sense of fun and irreverence into their shared work.
‘Spiders’ emerged when their house was overrun with the annual arachnid onslaught in September; a frequent occurrence but always unexpected. Spiders are home invaders. They enter uninvited, unwelcome and without rent money or a grocery contribution. Most spiders in Emma and Amanda’s house end up in glass prisons, taken to a mysterious life outside. ‘Spider’s imagines an alternative where these glass prisons transport them to more interesting locations, such as a holiday at the beach; while the use of pinhole photography interprets what it must be to view a huge world through millions of tiny eyes.
